I’ve mentioned before that I spent 2 months back in 2014 in Tyumen Russia. I know that no one really cares, but I was going through the photos I took and figured I’d share the pics of cars I took.

Why are cars in Russia always so filthy? I lived in Alberta. We have winter too but cars in Russia seem to just always be filthy.

I wondered that too. I guess they must have a lot of dirt roads.

When I got there on April 7 it looked like this:
Then it melted a week later and looked like this
Then because it’s almost may in Siberia, it went back to this
I think it’s cause the snow had finally melted completely for the first time and all the cars were still dirty from winter. The streets were also pretty dirty. This is where I was, pretty northern compared to a some of the world.

See what I said to Cletus, I think it was partially down to the time of the year I was there, all the snow had just melted.

Which picture? I completely missed it, if I got a picture of one it was by coincidence.

Mistook a celica for one

That’s what I was talking about. Mistook it because part of the window was blocking the rest of the light cluster.

I suspect it has a lot to do with whether or not people care. Most people aren’t dedicated enough to wash their cars without automated car washes. In cities (or the more populated Alberta) cars tend to be cleaner, probably due to the increased presence of automated washes. In rural MB where I live, not every tiny town has a car wash, and if it does then it’s more than likely just a wand wash. And for the most part by the time you get the car home it’ll be dirty again anyway. (an anecdote, I was involved in a parade float at one time, and the truck used to pull it had to be washed three times in one day, because we kept running errands with it and getting it dirty, and this was a sunny summer day). That and most of the roads aren’t paved. Cars are typically older and dirtier in Manitoba than other places I’ve seen. I suspect Siberia is the same.
